The Allihn Condenser also known as a bulb condenser, is designed for reflux applications. It features a series of spherical bulbs along the inner tube that increases the cooling surface area, providing excellent condensation efficiency. The water-cooled jacket ensures effective cooling of vapours, allowing condensed liquids to return to the reaction vessel during prolonged heating.
Provides a greater surface area than similar Liebig condensers. While suitable for refluxes, Allihn condensers, unless held vertically, are not as favored for distillations because a substance can condense and trapped in the side of the bulbs.
